Eastside Culture Crawl 2026 and East Vancouver Finds

East Vancouver Art Studios and a New Cafe Worth Discovering

East Vancouver offers a different way to explore the city: follow the people making things. An artist’s studio or a locally built brand can reveal more about a neighbourhood than a list of familiar attractions.

This week’s Social Pulse pairs an event to plan ahead for with a cafe you can put on your radar now. The Eastside Culture Crawl is scheduled for November 19–22, 2026, while Duchess Cafe opened on Adanac Street in September.

Put the Eastside Culture Crawl on your November calendar

The Eastside Arts Society lists the 2026 Classic Crawl for November 19–22. The annual festival brings the public into the working spaces of more than 500 Eastside artists. Confirm the dates with the organizer and use the Culture Crawl website to plan your visits.

Our suggestion is to choose a few studios before setting out. Look for artists whose work you are curious about, then build a manageable route around the current map. Leave room to linger when you find something that interests you.

If you are considering buying a piece for your home, bring measurements and photographs of the room. Ask about the medium, care, delivery and whether the work can tolerate the light conditions in your intended location. A conversation with the maker can help you choose more thoughtfully than an impulse purchase based on colour alone.

Duchess Cafe brings a local brand onto Adanac Street

Duchess Cafe opened September 3 at 1249 Adanac Street. The cafe occupies the street-facing portion of the building where Duchess Cocktails products are made. The room features the brand’s pink palette, and its opening offering included espresso, pastries and a no-tipping model. Read the cafe’s opening story.

What interests us is the chance to encounter a local company in a physical space. Packaging and online branding give one impression; a room you can visit gives you a different connection to a business.

Treat it as a separate stop or combine it with studio visits only if the current map and operating hours make the route sensible. The cafe is not being presented here as an official Culture Crawl venue.

Explore with an eye for the everyday

If East Vancouver is on your home search list, allow time to walk beyond the destination you came for. Notice your comfort with the street activity, your route to transit and the places you would use regularly.

Creative spaces and local businesses can be part of a neighbourhood’s appeal, but your own experience of the block should lead the decision. A lively event weekend gives you one useful perspective; a quieter weekday provides another.

When is the Culture Crawl happening?
